Welcome to the Cleveland High School Parent Teacher Association (CHS PTA).
Because of amazing community support, each year we are able to provide funding for all sorts of departments and projects at Cleveland. Your donations are critical in allowing us to directly support our teachers and kids with approximately $15,000 in grants each year. We also provide funds for Student Clubs and Affinity Groups, a Principal’s Discretionary Fund, support for Restorative Justice programming, new lab and technology equipment, tools, books, art supplies, musical instruments, lecture tables, basic classroom supplies, Weekend Warrior and campus improvement projects, and so much more.
In our 2023-2024 school year, requests for teacher grants doubled. Thanks to the support of just 11% of our Cleveland Community, we were able to support every request. Below are a few examples of your PTA donations at work.
Chef Hacklander: “The grant money provides groceries for 180 students and will be over well before the school year is over. Inflation has hit us hard and has impacted our ability to provide ingredients to our students.”
Mr. Staab: “On behalf of the eight sections of students who use the main chemistry lab this year, and in future years…THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for the new high quality balance. Here’s a side by side photo of the 20 plus year old one with the replacement the funds you’ve provided allowed us to purchase.”
Mr. Barnes: “The money from the PTA grants is currently funding the production for students in advanced woodshop, a dual credit course to build a tiny home”
Mr. Brown: “Purple Hibiscus is a complex text centered around Nigerian culture, which allows for exploration of a variety of themes in an IB context. The discussion focus in this unit allowed students to explore and connect to various elements of the text–from issues of domestic violence and family, to the legacy of colonialism in Nigeria–and the text allowed students listen to one another to see all possible readings.” PTA grant funds purchased 66 copies to serve 277 students.
Cleveland succeeds because of amazing volunteers and support from community partners like you. Thank you!
